The light grows dim.
Night enfolds me
in a heavy blanket.
Kiss on my forehead.
Whispers of sweet dreams –
snuffing out candle light.
The peace doesn’t last long.
Phobetor awakens me
in the hush of the night.
His cold breath icy
on my chest
as he clutches my heart.
His fingernails tear
into my flesh.
“I want you to never forget.”
“Nightmares,” he says –
“aren’t always just in your head.
The ones which beat
in your heart won’t fade.
You’ll come to understand
every night, I’m here.
Bitch, be afraid.”
I quite enjoyed this poem. I really loved the ending!

Taking some strong dark turns of late, aren’t ya? Loved the poem and am really enjoying your artwork as well. Was unable to respond to your queries via my blog for some reason. The answer to the first is sure, thank you. The answer to the second is sure, just don’t hurt me. 🙂

Thanks Oggy! Well, SlasherMonster is for the dark stuff. Monster art is fun, and I appreciate that you’re enjoying my illustrations. Fly helps with the background and making the art “pop.”
Great, Friday then — all right!! Haha; aw, not even a little bite? I’ll contact you again when we’re ready to post,

I love the poem and the illustrations. Don’t think I want a night visit like that.

Thanks Charles! The really cool thing about Phobetor is that he visits when you least expect it, so pray real hard. Haha!

Yeah, but which gods should I pray too?

Try Edgar Allan Poe — isn’t he the god of crows?

Corvids in general I suppose. I’ll burn some black feathers and croak tune of supplication.

Hmmm…I tried fighting some kind of fire beast about a week ago and that didn’t turn out too well. At least not for me.

Ooooh, a fire beast! Do you remember how it looked like? You should write a poem or story about it!

I do remember — perhaps I’ll write about the fire beast. Someday.

The nightmare that won’t quit. Definitely something to scream about all night long.

Just as long as you’re having fun, nothing wrong with screaming all night long!

Thanks, my ever so talented friend! Matt refines my drawings — he’s so fly. I showed him my idea of the illustration I’m going to do for your story. It’s gonna be so FUN! 😍

Phobetor hasn’t been visiting me for a while. Damn! I miss the nightmares.

I’ll talk to Phobe about scaring the crap out of you — but I’ll make sure to tell him to do that when you’re on the toilet. That would suck to crap in your bed.
