Welcome Back
When I feel too relaxed
and things fall into place,
I get on my back,
close my eyes,
and call my fears
by name.
Come and get me.
Make me sweat.
I want to feel
the edge
of your ax.
Sharpen my pain.
Awaken my doubts.
Feel me shudder.
Hear me shout.
In the dark,
I catch my breath.
I know your steps.
Welcome back –
my panic attack.
What scares you, can be a reassuring and yeah, a twisted and demented friend. It’s okay! The dark will never lie to you. Blackness feeds your soul with sour grapes, humble pie, piss & vinegar. You’ll never go hungry again!
Tell us about your fears in poetry or story! Everyone is free to participate — whether or not you want a prize. We want to hear what gives you a panic attack!

My darkest fear is chasing me in my dream often… usually in a loop… zombies… hordes of zombies are chasing after me and other people, trying to catch, to bite, to eat fresh flesh! There is never a safe place, they always come back at you, make you run again and again, with their rotten skin, dark teeth, cold hands… SCARY (P.s. and if it is a doctor-zombies, then it is even scarier!!! 😬 )

PANIC ATTACK
Each morning at three my mind comes aware and I start with the what ifs, so scary beware.
The black yawning maw of my money pit house demands all my thoughts what if this, what if that, will the doom ever happen and how oh how can I ever pay?
Will the sewer back up? Will that hedge overtake? Will the back wall fall down? Are the coyotes at bay?
Then I fall back to sleep in my dreams horror still, so much to be done but no money, no will.
When I rise from my slumber and bathroom-wards wander, my mind filled with horror and dread. I decide not to worry, put my dreams in my cupboard and sleepily go back to bed.

Spiders
Spiders everywhere
Seeking me, watching me
Scheming against me
They smell my blood
They feel my fear
They rejoice in my trepidation
But I won’t give in
I never drop my guard
I need to stay awake
Always watching
Wretched little beasts
They wait for me to sleep
To lay their eggs in my brain
To mix their is DNA with mine
So that they may steal my soul
And so I never sleep
I never rest
Always vigilant I am
Waiting, always waiting

Lol! Ive done this before! Zombies are scary — that’s something you don’t ever want to tell a Zombie who makes you upset — “Bite me!”
Hmm. Why are doctor-zombies scarier?
LikeLiked by 3 people
Because I am afraid of doctors in general 😀

Oh! That would be a nightmare, then! Stay away from zombie gynecologists; especially. 😱 Thanks for sharing your fears, Kristi. You’re very brave.

You don’t want a doctor-zombie to write a prescription!

No more room in the cemetery because it’s now a condo development for zombies, right?

When there’s no more room in the cemetery…the dead shall live in a condo.

A condoleum for the zombie vs. mausoleum for the dead and museum for the dead has-beens. (ba-rum-bum – although instead of a drum sound, it is a clack of bone sound)

Mausoleums take up too much space, and there are no amenities. Unfortunately.

Excellent poem as usual. You have way of chilling our hearts and curling our hair without a curling iron. Step right up to the new beauty parlor, where your hair turns white just from that banshee scream. AHHHHHHHH

No need to use a bleaching kit, just let the screams seep into your scalp.

We worry about the silliest things, but the fears are real. Potent words, Dru. Thanks for the insight into your panic attack 🙂
